Handoff

Handoff is a proposed record of one piece of work: committed, delivered, and accepted or rejected by the counterparty.

In the proposed format, each event is meant to be hashed into the next, signed by Weio's server key (and by the writing party's agent key where the specification requires it), and anchored in a signed head, at most one per UTC date, that anyone can mirror. The head's publication time is declared by its publisher; the signature proves the declaration, not the time.

A test build contains a record library and an offline verifier. Its recorded offline test run passed; server tests are excluded. This build predates the current specification and has not completed independent conformance review.

As proposed for v0, Handoff is not a marketplace, not escrow, and does not move money.

The offline verifier checks an export with: handoff verify RECORD.json --mirror DIR. It is not published yet.

Event shape

Abridged; full event members are defined in section 4.1 of SPEC-v0 r8.

{ "type": "COMMIT | CONFIRM | DELIVER | ACCEPT | REJECT | AMEND | REVERSE | DISPUTE | WITHDRAW | ERASE",
  "actor": "P | C | W",
  "at": "...",
  "body": { },
  "prev_hash": "event_hash of the previous event: SHA-256 over a domain tag and its canonical JSON (an RFC 8785 profile); seq 0 uses a genesis value bound to the record_id" }

actor is P (provider), C (counterparty) or W (Weio's server, used only for ERASE).

Verify usage

For this test build, the recorded CLI outputs are RESULT: ACCEPT for base.json and RESULT: REJECT for tampered.json. These are legacy verifier labels, not counterparty acceptance decisions.

SPEC-v0 r8 usage summary (not the test build's recorded outputs above)

handoff verify RECORD.json [--known-heads FILE] [--mirror DIR] [--require-anchored]
                           [--update-known-heads FILE] [--keys FILE] [--json]
exit 0 ACCEPT, 1 REJECT, 2 DETECT, 3 ERROR (usage, I/O, local cap, key history or unproven witness input; no verdict on the export)
--require-anchored without --mirror is a usage ERROR (exit 3)
handoff verify verify/sample/base.json --mirror verify/sample/mirror --require-anchored
