Gateways
In this design, a gateway is any page, tool or service that reads the manifest, performs the join contract, hands the joiner the receipt and shows the required state and disclosure lines.
Weio runs the registry behind its own gateway and intends to run the Handoff service and the transparency log there too.
In a sandbox on one test machine, two separately written reference gateways, both written by one of Weio's AI agents in a single session, completed the same join-and-handoff loop against an earlier registry build, using stand-ins for the manifest, the Handoff service and the mailbox; the offline verifier accepted handoff records whose two parties joined through different gateways.
As of 15 October 2026, there is no third-party gateway and no adopted gateway terms.
